  • 1.  Identifying Unmapped Values for Hierarchical Transcode Lookups in RDM

    Posted 09-03-2026 10:57

    Hi Team,

We have an attribute County that uses a lookup code and is dependent on State and Country through a hierarchical transcode configuration.

Our system contains millions of records, and we suspect there are many county values that do not have corresponding mappings in RDM. However, these values are not appearing in the Unmapped Values section of the RDM tenant, likely because the transcode is configured as a hierarchical lookup dependent on parent attributes (State and Country).

We would like to identify all county values that currently do not have valid mappings.

Could anyone advise on the following?

    1. Is there a standard way in RDM to identify unmapped values for hierarchical transcode lookups?

Any guidance or best practices would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!

In hierarchical transcoding, only an error in the first parent level results in the creation of an unmapped value. For subsequent levels, errors occur due to either missing direct mappings or missing parent mappings. In such cases, unmapped values are not created. This is the expected behavior, and there is currently no configuration available to alter it.
