What happens in case the business name actually changed and the name change is real change. Ideally one would like to keep the merged record as it is, so that the latest name wins in OV

In this case, it will still unmerge the record. You can prevent this using the match group retain condition. This was explained in the demo

Is there a corresponding potential unmerge similar to the potential match?

    Hi Ragini,

Currently, we do not support potential unmerge functionality. We do have this on our product roadmap.

    I have a few questions:

    • Can you prevent the auto-unmerge apply to manual merges?
    • Are you considering adding these reports on the UI search to show us profiles that are eligible for unmerge.  This would help data stewards that rely on the UI.

This will really help and I understand how you've evolved the capability.  I know you will continue to improve the process.  I think this is a big step forward

    Hi Sandro,

    • Yes. By default, the manually merged records are not automatically unmerged. Users can set up the unmerge process to consider manually merged records for the unmerge
    • Currently, we do not show the list of entities eligible for unmerge on the UI. We do have it on the product roadmap.

How would this unmerge work for different values in different crosswalks? As you can have two entities where they merged based on the ov true but then we change some cw contributed data that isn't OV true. Would that still trigger an unmerge? Or do we need to update that data in each cw of that entity to have an unmerge

Yes. The unmerge evaluation process is still triggered on every update but the when the underlying crosswalks are evaluated using the match rule that may not trigger the unmerge process

How about those entity IDs after unmerge, especially the address Id, e.g profile 1 with two address, and profile 2 with 1 address which is same as one of profile one, after split/unmerge, the  common address needs to be split too, who will get original ID, who will get new ID

Unmerge process will simply take the merged entities back to the state of the profile how they were before merge. If the new address was created after the merged then after the unmerge this new address will stay with the winner entity ID record

    A couple of questions:

    1. Will it automatically unmerge the force merged profiles done my DS?
    2. Is there going to be automated unmerge queue in the dashboard?

    1. No. The profiles merged by the DS are not unmerged automatically.

    2. In the future release there will be a queue that will list the entities eligible for unmerge.

Please confirm that unmerge only occurs when a crosswalk in the entity is updated … so configuration change itself does not result in auto unmerge?

Yes. that is correct. Configuration change will not trigger automated unmerge process. Only data change triggers the unmerge process.

Should we use this unmerge functionality on manually merged records as well? ie. Any name or address details changed completely

Does auto unmerge  have any performance impact if records count is huge say ~10M or there are multiple match rules?

The real-time automated unmerge works on the individual record so there will not be any performance impact on the tenant. You might see slowness in the update operation if there is a large number of crosswalks for the record that is being evaluated for unmerge.

Does the unmerge happen at a crosswalk level or at entity level?

Lets says entity 1 has crosswalks A, B, C merged with entity 2 which has crosswalks X and Y and entity 1 is the merge winner.
And then we had a partial update on crosswalk B which violates the automatic match rule, does this unmerge only crosswalk B from the merged entity or the entire entity 1 will be unmerged
