As a technology provider, Reltio's core value correlates tightly to the skills and expertise of the professionals who use it. Our community spotlight series focuses on the people who make enterprise master data management solutions possible.

This post shines the spotlight on Ashish Rawat, Senior Consultant in Data Management capability at Fresh Gravity. Ashish began his career as an master data management consultant after completing his masters from the Jaypee University of Information Technology in Northern India. Since then, he has worked in life sciences, healthcare, education, and entertainment. Ashish's roles have evolved from consultant/application developer, to delivery lead, and finally to MDM architect.

At Fresh Gravity, Ashish leads MDM, integration initiatives, conducts internship programs, and contributes to the firm's internal capability building activities. Fresh Gravity relies on his expertise to deliver cutting-edge digital transformation solutions to its customers.

Ashish Rawat on Reltio Master Data Management Technology

We asked Ashish what motivates him to contribute to the Reltio community. He finds the community an excellent platform for gaining MDM knowledge, best practices, and industry standards for new business use cases.

Ashish recognizes that data is the fuel that drives value in every industry. He has also seen how bad data damages brand value and hurts productivity. His focus on master data management came from the realization that having the latest, cleanest, and greatest data is what truly drives business value on a day-to-day basis. On a longer term road-map, it's still data that fuels data science and analytics for further growth.

According to Ashish, master data management has universal applications. He sees it as a must-have for every industry that deals with data.

We asked Ashish what the most rewarding part of his job is. His response highlighted the real-world gains that MDM technology enables in life science and healthcare, where improving medical facilities and treatments relies entirely on insights drawn from good, reliable data.

When asked about the challenges that the MDM industry faces as a whole, Ashish told us that it's hard for many customers to evolve from a traditional relational database management system (RDBMS). There are numerous obstacles that enterprise IT leaders and stakeholders must confront in order to bridge the gap from RDBMS to a more efficient approach like the graph model.

Master data management plays a critical role in this evolution, and Ashish is keen on developing his cloud technology skills in order to implement master data management as part of a complete cloud solution.

When not in the office, you'll find Ashish playing table tennis, cricket, badminton, or video games. Like the rest of us, he's keen on traveling with friends in a re-opening post-pandemic world, and admits spending a good portion of 2020 binge-watching his favorite streamed TV shows.
