Hi Team,

Can we make any field unique in Reltio? User will create records in Reltio directly and can we throw an error if User is entering duplicate Names before save ?

We encountered similar use case but unfortunately I couldn't find any optionto make any attribute as unique in Reltio. Reltio will allow duplicate and we have to configure match/merge rules to merge the duplicates.

Probably there might be an approach to use LCA that involves Java coding. As far as I know OoB this feature is not available.

There is no intrinsic way I know of to declare an attribute in Relito as unique, and that is sort of a by-product if you will of the fact that an MDM system is predicated on the concept of duplicate values existing in the world which together form duplicate entities. MDM's job is to match duplicates and help you resolve them. That said, you can use the Data Quality dashboard to view a distribution chart of values within an attribute empowering you to find non-uniques and remediate them accordingly.

I requested Subba Reddy to post this question to the community. We are new customer for Reltio and we are still figuring out how the existing applications functionalities can be implemented in Reltio. We understand what is MDM's job and what matching or deduplication can help. Sometimes we need to think from the Centralization MDM perspective as well. Our users directly come into MDM and create/update records. There are no Source systems and no matching involved. Lots of validations like forms and business rules were implemented. There are lots of uniqueness checks which give errors during record creation or form validation. What I understand from this conversation is that those uniqueness checks can't be done easily in Reltio and all those need to be handled through matching. From the user's perspective, we need to let users enter duplicates and handle those through matching. I think that Reltio is not yet there for Authoring and all these custom validations and maybe in the future we will see. We just wanted to understand whether this can be done or not. Anyway Thanks for your reply and suggestion

Ahh, I understand the context better now. You are quite correct that today, authoring in Reltio has not been a focus area but that is changing. In fact the 2024.1 release in Feb will showcase a strong improvement specifically in this area. You will be able to declare a subset of attributes for authoring by various roles, orchestrated by a set of WF steps. You will be able to see this demonstrated on Feb 16 in a customer-facing webinar. The release is scheduled for Feb 19. As always these are the scheduled dates as of now and are always subject to some change as we draw closer. Hope that helps
