Subject: RE: Drag-and-drop User Interface for managing Hierarchy Information
Hi Gino, The reference to a thousand data asset concerns data that are already in Reltio.
I envisage a facet from where I can filter tenant profiles to a node collection using a criterion. With these selected profile nodes placed in the facet graph canvas, having a feature such as tooltip that shows what their relation role designation is (say no-relation, immediate parent, domestic ultimate parent, or global ultimate parent, etcetera), I would select a node, assign a relation role, say global ultimate and then pair a child with it visually using drag and drop. Once this is done, attributes of effectivity and audit are updated for the relation. If I delete a node from a relation, the relation is end dated with date attribute update.

ah! Sorry, I didn't realize this was on initial creation.
If I had to do 1000, I would consider doing a load of data via data loader. Also, creating the relationships via the relationship perspective might be easier, too.
if this is the initial creation, where would you be dragging the data from to put it into the hierarchy?

Hi Gino, the issue is the drag node shows up after the hierarchy is built not when it is being built. The UI presents a profile as a node to start with. Then you click the action "+" button to add a node. After a dropdown list of profiles is presented when the arrow-down is clicked. Here comes the issue. All profiles are first loaded into the list (say 1,000) and are filtered as you type the profile name. Then you select from the list. There is no drag and drop feature here when building the hierarchy, which is the part that takes time. Once the hierarchy is set, having specified the parent and the children, the drag node icon shows up and one can drag any of the children but NOT parent. I think it will be a nicer experience if the drag node is available right from start, during the hierarchy build with a filter for small collection from where you can drag nodes and designate which ones will be immediate parent, domestic ultimate parent, or global ultimate parent etcetera. That will save more time and make the process likeable to business commodity managers.

Hi Olu,
When in edit mode, a user can click and drag a node in the hierarchy today. Am I missing something?

Subject: Drag-and-drop User Interface for managing Hierarchy Information
The current user interface (UI) implementation of managing hierarchy information presents a problem where business users, such as commodity managers, who deal with lines of relation information, find it cumbersome and more error prone when building hierarchies. They would select a profile, and select an Edit mode, and then select a line of relation, clicking an action, then selecting another profile node and relation, and then save – too many steps!
We are searching for a UI that takes advantage of the drag and drop feature which in turn calls appropriate APIs to render an intuitive user experience for commodity managers who deals with these kinds of lines of relation information in the supply chain. A drag-and-drop UI offers more accurate, intuitive and responsive user experience.
Could anyone guide on a possible solution?
And by the way I entered an AHA idea in the portal: Ideas Portal
If this feature resonates, could I ask that you login to the idea portal and vote this idea so that Reltio product team can consider it for a release?
Thank you.
