  • 1.  Organization Entity vs. Customer Entity

    Posted 03-05-2023 07:44

Are there any pros and cons to using the Organization entity instead of the Customer Entity?  Our Reltio implementation was for the Customer entity, but our data includes customers, partners, and contracting entities.  We are evaluating if it makes sense to switch to an Organization entity.  Is it really semantics or would there be advantages to doing this?

    Thank you,

    Hi Erin,

You might get a lot of opinions on this one.  On one hand, if the only business requirement you were trying to meet was to change what your entity was called, you can easily do that in the configuration by changing the entity label.

But if you had requirements to treat these separately you might want to think of breaking these into separate entities, perhaps all inheriting from a hidden (abstract) entity that has the core attribution shared between these entity types.

And of course your requirements might be on the continuum between these two.  My advice is that if you are truly having business pain because of the way this was set up, you discuss this with your CSM or a consulting partner.
