  • 1.  Rename Locations Entity to Location

    Hi Team,

    Hope you are doing well. There are two entities in the system, Location and Locations. We have a requirement to rename the Locations Entity to Location as old Entity Location is no longer needed. What is the best way to rename the entity? How the data can be moved from Old to New Entity. Here are the steps as per my understanding:

    1. Rename the entity Location to Location_old by updating all the references to entity Location.
    2. Rename the configuration for Locations entity and update all references to Location. 

    Open Question: How do I move the data from Locations Entity To Location. Please suggest some approaches?

    Hi Ajay,

    You'll need to reload the data into the new entity type. Instead, see if you can just rename the label and keep the physical name unchanged.

    And doing the reload will break every existing relationship with an address.  You should really work with the rename as @Snehil Kamal suggests

    I have a similar question. I have an Entity Type that has a misspelled Name in the L3 configuration. What's the best way to correct the misspelling without losing the data that's in the Entity.

    Hi Vera!

    Unfortunately, if it is in the entity type name (not the label), you
    have a problem. the entityType is part of the URI that helps you get
    to a resource. So changing it will point to a different resource. I
    can't think of a way to do that other than reload the data and
    relationships.
