Hi All,

I have a requirement to make an attribute mandatory in DCR, Is there a way to do it without workflow customization? 

Hi Ashish,

You can mark this attribute as mandatory in the L3 configuration.  This will require that it is always set regardless if it is a DCR or not.  There isn't a way to directly restrict it to DCR only without customizing the workflow code.

If mandatory attribute is already populated in the records and Reltio allows user to create DCR without mandatory attribute.

You can mark this attribute as mandatory in the L3 configuration.  This will require that it is always set regardless if it is a DCR or not.  There isn't a way to directly restrict it to DCR only without customizing the workflow code.

The validation occurs at the UI level.  If an attribute is set to mandatory and the value isn't set, then the UI will show you red text telling you that you need to set the value.  The UI will stop you from creating the DCR if the value isn't set.

This validation doesn't happen on the API level, so if you're creating DCR's through the API then this mandatory flag will not stop you.  You'd be better off designing this exception into your API integration so the DCR isn't created when missing the attribute value.

Yes Chris, From UI itself if mandatory attribute is already populated then mandatory attribute validation won't be applicable on DCR. I was looking for a way to mandate an attribute for DCR from UI even when it is populated in the record.

I see, you're looking to validate values prior to DCR creation.  There isn't a way to enforce this OOTB, other then maybe RDM, but based on your use case RDM isn't going to be enough.  Reltio doesn't have the capability of restricting DCR creation based on value validation.
