Reltio New UI is a completely redesigned and rebuilt user interface. It is an intuitive & modern user experience keeping in mind the needs of data stewards, analysts and business users alike. The new Reltio UI allows users to

  • Quickly navigate through our modernized interface for simplified experience
  • Personalize their user experience with the information relevant to them
  • Better content discovery with a focused search experience
  • Easily understand entities and relationships
  • Efficiently steward data

Why did we decide to revamp the Reltio UI

  • Provide customers & users with the latest design concepts
  • Modern technology stack that is scalable, stable and high performant
  • Accelerate the pace of innovation
  • Self-service configuration

The new Reltio UI is going to replace the existing or classic UI that customers currently use.

In the first part of this blog we discussed all the different subpages/perspectives under profile Link : Blog - Deep Dive on New UI (Part 1))

  • Main profile page
  • Relationships View
  • Graph Perspective
  • Potential Match
  • Sources & Survivorship
  • Activity Log

We had analyzed feedback from our customers and there were a couple of common themes that came up multiple times. The navigation and quick search option in the initial version of the new UI was not user friendly and required multiple clicks reducing the productivity of the users.

Also - personalization is one of the key themes for new UI and users requested to upgrade the search experience so that the system persists the user choices automatically. Though this was not something that was present in classic UI - we decided to include it in the upgraded version of new UI

We enhanced our UI modeler to address the issue of misaligned profile facets that our early adopters faced. We also enhanced security to make sure that new UI is more robust and secure in handling access tokens

In this second part of the blog series - we are going to discuss Search , Navigation , UI Modeler , dashboards and Security.

We have also added one FAQ section where we have answered most common questions that we faced during our conversations with multiple customers about the upcoming migration in Feb 2023.

Search:

For scenarios like file based search ( in advanced search ) we have brought back the option to get the file data profiled as and when the user forms the query. This will work only if there is single block of query and there is only “AND” operator present in the query ( In-progress)
Search
Attributes returned as part of the search result will be persisted at user level for a specific entity type.  The column width can also be auto adjusted based on the result and if the user makes any changes in column width - then that will also be persisted.

The new UI also supports table view and list view of the search results. Users can get a quick detailed view of any specific entity or location information using map view from the search result view itself.

User can save searches and control who can view those items

UX and Navigation

Get where you’re going in a click of a finger! We improved the navigation to make it more streamlined.

The primary pages (Dashboard, DQ, Search, Profile) are now only 1-click away. In addition, when you’re in a Profile page, its subpages are displayed across the horizontal toolbar making it faster to navigate and manage your data. It expands dynamically when you hover to give more context to users.
UX and Navigation

Searching is one of the most important activities in an MDM platform. We moved the Keyword Search at the top header of the app, making it more accessible and visible for our users to find the profile they need. In addition, we added a short key to access the Keyword Search without having to move your cursor.

Customers can customize the UI based on their company branding. They can add their company logo, and customize the header color with their color scheme.

The user interface has been designed in such a way that the user gets optimized real-estate on the screen. Enhanced 4 column layout is shown in the picture below

The new navigation is more aligned and consistent with the other Reltio applications so that users face less disruption in terms of experience while moving from one page to another. For example, different perspectives under profile page are now horizontal tabs so that the user does not need to go back to the main menu every time (s)he needs to move from one sub page to another.

UI Modeler:

UI Modeler is the tool where Reltio admin/configurator defines the facet configuration of hub UI related to different entity types.

New UI supports a 4 column layout instead of three which was the case in classic UI. So the UI modeler has been enhanced to support 4 column layout

UI Modeler

The page properties tab will define the availability of different perspectives under the profile page. This was available in classic UI but in a different way
UI Modeler

  1. At the top of the enhanced UI modeler - the configurator will have the option to set the toggle switch to new UI or classic UI ( till the point Reltio supports classic UI). The configuration changes will be reflected only for the selected mode/version.
  2. The data steward or business user will have the option to arrange the UI facets as per their preference. They can resize and rearrange them to override the admin configuration. However if the admin publishes the next version of configuration then these user specific settings will be lost and users will have to set their preference once more.

Dashboards:

The dashboards in the Reltio hub UI provide users to visualize key data metrics as per the requirements. With just a single click on any chart in the dashboard - the user can check the underlying data from search results.

Profile Statistics Dashboards - This functionality was present in the classic UI. However we have improved the visualization ( look and feel) and performance of these dashboards to improve the user experience.

Users can also resize and rearrange different facets according to their preferences.

They can also easily add/remove predefined charts according to their needs. In the UI modeler - the UI configurator or admin can create new charts by selecting a specific chart type and details in the properties tab.

Activity Log ( as shown under profile) can also be part of a dashboard where users can see all the activities happening across this tenant.

Data Quality Dashboards - The data quality dashboard can be accessed via both new and classic UI.

The data quality dashboards give a high level overview for entity specific data quality metrics including RDM transcode errors.

Then the user also gets an option to drill down for each attribute to find out stuff like uniqueness , frequency analysis and source level information. This can also display data anomaly based on any data validation function built using that specific attribute

Security:

We do not store the access/refresh tokens on the UI side anymore. Classic UI used to store this causing significant potential security risk/threat

The new UI has a more enhanced security model, and doesn’t have access to tokens rather it gets the access token from the UI backend. The new UI architecture stores the access codes in HTTPS cookies (we use this approach in every new UI app, including Console)

FAQ

Will customers be able to go back to classic UI once migration to new UI for a specific tenant is complete?

Customers will not be able to go back to classic UI mode once the tenant migration to the new UI is complete. If you have any concern or are facing any issue - please reach out to your CSM or raise a zendesk support ticket.

What happens to “Switch to Old UI” and “Switch to New UI” buttons ?

Those buttons will not be available once the migration is complete.

What will happen to my UI during the 23.1 EA and GA release?

On 23.1 EA release (01-Feb-2023) non-prod preview tenants will be migrated to the new UI. Users can test the new UI in their non-production tenants for 3 weeks. On 22-Feb-2023 (GA Date) - all the production tenants will be migrated to the new UI.

What happens to the UI modeler toggle switch?

The UI modeler toggle switch will not be available post migration as the support for classic UI modeler will not be available.

Why are my facets in the new UI still jumbled up?

The facet arrangement for the new UI will be automatically taken care of by the Reltio team for production tenants before migration. If in case you see misalignment of facets for your tenants currently then please follow the below steps:

  1. In the UI Modeler, there's a switch at the top toolbar where you can choose to configure the UI layout of either Classic UI or New UI. We have added this so you can configure the New Profile UI and test it out without disrupting the UI layout of your Classic UI.
  2. Move the switch to "New UI"
  3. Confiture the Profile pages
  4. Publish the changes

If you face any issue then please reach out to the Reltio support team through a Zendesk ticket.

Will my existing URLs change once I migrate ?

The URLs for the new UI will be different from the classic UI.

  • DCR/Profile/Potential matches direct links will be redirected
  • Rest will be redirected to the default screen
