Enhancing the Reltio Way: Optimising Delivery Methodology for Maximum Efficiency

T
he importance of efficiency cannot be overstated. From receiving same-day grocery deliveries to getting your favourite takeout in under an hour, we've come to expect quick and seamless service in all aspects of life. However, achieving the same level of efficiency in software implementation can be a complex task, especially for organisations with multiple systems that contain critical data necessary for the successful operation of their business.

“Reducing time to value refers to a reduction in the time it takes

for a customer to realise the benefits of a product or service”

While resolving complex and fragmented data issues cannot be accomplished with the snap of a finger, there are ways to expedite the software implementation process significantly. Instead of investing in a lengthy and costly two-year implementation that may cost organisations thousands, if not millions of dollars, it is now possible to achieve the same results in just 90 days.

No laughing please, this is serious! In this article, I am going to introduce you to Reltio’s 90-day implementation. I then go on to talk about how we can help you keep to those 90 days with assets which will support and accelerate your time to value.

“It is not necessary to do extraordinary things

to get extraordinary results.” – Warren Buffett

Reltio has developed a suite of preconfigured connectors within its Integration Hub module which support our prescriptive agile-modelled implementation approach, known as "The Reltio Way Delivery Methodology".  Perhaps I should explain our implementation approach before showing you how we can make it even faster!

Reltio’s methodology follows a sequential framework of checkpoints to ensure the implementation team can deliver iterative implementation milestones that add value throughout the project.

The specific implementation milestones will differ depending on where each customer is in their Reltio customer journey. However, following this framework in every phase ensures continuous delivery of value, no matter the customer's journey stage.

To assess the level of risk for achieving the planned Go Live Milestone date, we have introduced a Go Live Readiness Assessment that will be reviewed at each checkpoint. This assessment helps assess, document, and communicate the level of risk associated with achieving the desired Go Live Milestone date.

After reading this, you might say:

“This is great! But Paul, my implementation is rather complex. I have hundreds of Source systems and need you to update them after you have cleansed and harmonised my data…. Oh not to mention the number of API calls it's a huge undertaking…. 90 days…. You are kidding me?

"I agree with you Mr Customer, but I also think that 90 Days is achievable, We have seen it with several of our customers in different industries. I think it was Henry Ford who said, “Nothing is particularly hard when you divide it into small jobs.”

Our Delivery Methodology is fundamentally sound, but we understand that larger implementations may require additional sprints between each phase. To expedite the process, we have prepared templated documentation to jumpstart each deliverable. For instance, we have User Stories broken out by module and a Fit Gap Analysis template. These templates (and others) are available to all customers, regardless of the size of the task at hand, to streamline the implementation process and deliver value in a timely manner.”

“Documentation is great and will help, for sure. But what else can you accelerate our timeline with?”

“Here I can help you with Prebuilt connectors for ETL, Import/Export, Reporting and Match Analysis through our Reltio Integration Hub. These have been developed by our Professional Services team with real-life use cases seen during projects in the last year and right now.

We have leveraged the hours of work and expertise gained from our current customer base to develop these templated documentation and implementation recipes. We understand that one size does not fit all, which is why we offer different variations of each template. So whether you need to connect your Azure ODS to Reltio or are a Google shop, we have the resources to cater to your specific needs.”

But what is Reltio Integration Hub?

Reltio Integration Hub (RIH) offers a no-code, low-code integration solution via the Reltio-connected data platform. Powered by a simplified version of Workato, RIH enables users to create end-to-end integration flows, incorporate AI and machine learning-based orchestration, and seamlessly integrate Reltio-mastered data with downstream applications and platforms.

RIH comes equipped with a wide range of connectors to various systems, enabling rapid and easy connectivity across platforms. The user interface allows for easy administration and monitoring of integrations. With RIH, you can create intelligent process automation pipelines to reduce manual tasks and increase predictability, reliability, and cost savings.

Historical Workflow Tasks Export

The purpose of this recipe is to export historical workflow tasks from the tenant in a readable CSV format. The recipe would export all the attributes of historic tasks that business users can use for offline analytics and reporting.

In Detail

The recipe I created works on a time trigger and is invoked daily at 12am. The recipe executes a GET API to fetch a list of historic tasks, importing 2000 at a time and writing them to a CSV File. Once complete, the Recipe uploads the finalised CSV to an Amazon S3 Bucket.

An example of the output:

Prerequisites

Below are the prerequisites for using this recipe:

  • RIH should be enabled on your Reltio tenant. Contact your CSM if it's not already enabled

  • Workflows should be enabled in the tenant

  • Credentials to connect to Reltio and invoke workflow APIs. The relevant roles should be provided to the user or client for this purpose.

  • Access to AWS S3 location to upload the CSV files

As with all of these recipes, you can reconfigure them to work with Alternative sources and outputs.

RDM Clone Lookup Type Source Entries

This recipe clones/replaces the entries for a lookup type to another source.  It is helpful to create fully populated entries based on an existing set of source entries within the same lookup type.  This is typically required to match new sources created in the MDM tenant.

In Detail

This utility recipe is fulfilled by a single callable function recipe that is used in ‘test’ mode to specify the parameters for execution.  The user of this recipe is expected to review the job log output for errors as there may be reasons for a failure to occur that does not surface (ie. required lookup type attributes not being specified).  The generated and starting JSON is automatically backed up to a lookup table though it is still recommended to make your own backups as these lookup tables may be truncated manually at different times.

A calling recipe can be created that invokes this recipe with the correct parameters or it can be invoked standalone via the ‘Test’ option.  Ensure the backup recipe is running before starting this.

As with all of these recipes, you can reconfigure them to work with Alternative sources and outputs.

Potential Match Extract

This recipe takes Entity Type, Match Rule, filter conditions and a list of attributes to be extracted as inputs and would extract Potential Match data in a pipe delimited format file, that is written to an S3 bucket.

In Detail

The recipe I created works by taking criteria from conditions based on the given Entity Type, Match Rule and filter condition values. The Reltio Connector identifies the total number of Entities to be processed, once identified it compares them to the Match Rule criteria and outputs the potential match using a Python script into a Pipe Delimited File format and writes the final data to an S3 bucket.

Prerequisites

Below are the prerequisites for using this recipe:

  • RIH should be enabled on your Reltio tenant. Contact your CSM if it's not already enabled

  • The S3 bucket is available and a connection is established in RIH.

  • Credentials to connect to Reltio from within RIH. The relevant roles should be provided to the user or client for this purpose.

As with all of these recipes, you can reconfigure them to work with Alternative sources and outputs.

T
he purpose of providing these recipes is to enable our PS Team (who will support your implementation directly or through a partner) to accelerate common use cases for data manipulation and ingestion into and out of Reltio. While RIH has a user-friendly interface and requires little to no coding experience, having a prebuilt set of recipes can further shorten the time to value.

We are always open to discussing our Reltio Delivery Methodology with our customers and recently held a webinar on the topic.
