    Hi all,

On January 17th, 2023 we will be hosting a Community show called Ask Me Anything - Rule Based Matching  Click the link to RSVP. We would like to start gathering questions for @Suchen Chodankar so that we have some questions from you before the show. Reply to this post with your questions. We are looking forward to hosting this AMA!

    Hi Team,

This is regarding Traditional Matching Rule which follows Edit distance concept.
Based on reviewing Reltio's advanced match rule i can see Damerau–Levenshtein comparator functionality match to the same.

Does the scoring algorithm at the backend also works in the same way ?
For Example, "Difference between the pattern based on multiple hops determining the score between two strings?"

Here are some Match Rule questions and discussion points that are interesting to us.

    1) How is matching impacted by multiple survivorship groups:

    1. a) What are implications and risks of doing so

    2) Best practices for implementing new match rules when using Event

          Streaming for integration

    3) Rule vs. Relevance Based Match Rules

    1. a) What is adoption rate of each
    2. b) Pros / Cons
    3. c) Can both be used at the same time
    4. a)      Suggestions for transitioning to co-exist or move to relevance based

    4) OV Values and Match Rules:

    1. a) Adoption rate of OV vs non-OV
    2. b) Pros / Cons

    5) Matching advanced capabilities:

    1. a) Can workflows be used to compare attributes and trigger merge from suspect rules
    2. b) What effective methods are often missed by customers

    6) Match rule best practices for integrating new sources into production implementation

    7) Match rule filtering by source system?

    8) Recommendations around Transitive Matching

Match rule filtering by source system:

    1. Can the Equals or NotEquals filter be on more than 1 source system value
    2. Could same match rule separately match source A/B Only and source C/D Only
or would this require 2 separate match rules
    3. Considerations of using a Custom Attribute in place of Source System

Scalability of match engine / no of rules – At Pfizer, we have 100+ countries loaded into Reltio and we are adding many new data sources as we load new markets. Even for the same sources each market has diff quality and profile of data

We always hear from Reltio PS team that we should try to limit no of match rules per tenant to around 20-25 max

Assuming it's not a hard limit but is this a real constraint which would cause performance issue. If we want to have generic rules for cross markets but then have specific rules for outlier markets etc. and want to increase to 50-100 rules for e.g. than is this an issue?

Is the constraint that the infrastructure is not set up to scale as needed for this?

For a large global company like ours, it seems unacceptable that we have an enterprise platform that doesn't scale for our business needs and data complexity making our match quality lower than it should be.

Yes we do, and I have an example which I show here.  Here we set this up as a cleanse function just like you used the name dictionary, our first synonymous matching. You provide the list of attribute that you want to translate and it basically does the matching based on that. If you look at this particular record, there are two different languages here. If you use the Google Translator or something, you will see that this character here translate right to Zao, and this is the same character. It was able to translate and find this as a match using that one match rule that I've configured to use the translation. It is set up as cleanse function and you use the cleanse adapter just like you use the name dictionary and then provide the list of all the attribute that you want to translate.

1.)Can we use multiple comparator classes and tokenization classes for an attribute.

2.) Which is the best comparator and tokenization class for First name, last name or full name ?

Potential Matches under Relevance based Match Rule Is there any way we could publish the score on Profile level?

is there an option where we can specify OV for few attributes and non-ov for rest of the attributes

can we add source system name in filter option when defining the match rules?

Yes. You can basically trigger the external match and say just use this one particular rule and not the whole thing, if that is the question here. You can specify the list of rules or a specific rule and if you don't provide any rule parameter there, then it'll just execute on all the external and match rules which is marked for both external and internal matching.

What tool are you using for transliteration? How can we reuse this tool?

Any plans to separate tokenization from individual match rules/groups and comparator classes?

Apart from traditional and relevance matching, can you speak a bit about bot (AI/ML) based matching, I remember Reltio team has been talking about it for a while
