We have following address for an organization
Address Line 1: 11906 Conley Rd Ste 110  ---- Note cleanser concatenates address line 2 to address line 1
Address Line2: Suite 110
City: Laredo
State: TX (Texas)
Country: United States (US)

I am looking to understand why this is occurring, as our expectation is that there is not going to be any concatenation. 
If it is expected behavior, then how do we prevent it from occurring?

Hi Behzad,

I think I can help here. The cleanser appends Suite to the end of address line 1 because that is what is preferred by the USPS. 

"Secondary address unit designators, such as APARTMENT or SUITE,  are required to be printed on the mailpiece for address locations containing secondary unit designators. The preferred location is at the end of the Delivery Address Line." USPS site is linked here

As for the second question, I am not sure there is a good way to prevent this from happening other than turning off cleansing on that attribute.

@Behzad Kekobad, for the sake of being comprehensive, I also had our QA team reach out directly to our address verification partners at Loqate. They provided a response that was nearly identical to what Roger stated here, regarding why the two lines are being concatenated. Hope that helps!​​​

Thanks for the response. Is it going to concatenate irrespective of what is entered in address. line 2? Or is it limited to Suite/Apartment#?

It will concatenate any type of secondary unit designator.
